Run Coast to Coast in the 21st Jeju International Tourism Marathon Festival

There are too many beautiful beaches to explore, so why not run along a few of them and take it the panoramic sights as you go? One such race is the 21st Jeju International Tourism Marathon Festival. Taking place on Sunday, 29 May 2016, runners will be treated to stunning coastal views in the cool late spring climate on Jeju island, the largest island in South Korea.

Authorised by K.A.A.F (Korea Association of Athletics Federation), the event will feature 3 distances: Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10 km. People of all ages can take part in the 10 km Run or Walk, though children under 8 years old should be accompanied by parents and those under the age of 18 will need parental consent to join the run.

Kicking off from Gujwa Life Sports Park at Gimnyeong Beach, runners will head towards Woljeong Beach and Pyeongdae Handong Beach, the turning points for the 10 km and Half Marathon course respectively.

Full marathoners will continue towards the small but serene Sehwa Beach and Hado Beach, where you can walk across lava stone to Rabbit Island at low tide. They will also pass by the Hado Migrant Bird Habitat where thousands of migratory birds gather at the ecologically diverse estuary, where a river meets the ocean.

Such picturesque scenery and wonderful experiences are meant to be shared. So sign up for the half or full marathon in all male or mixed teams and multiply the fun!

The overall first five runners will be awarded trophies and prizes while the top three in each age group and event will also be presented with certificates and prizes. The leading three teams will be given certificates as well. The eldest male and female runners who complete the race will also deserve special mention and be rewarded sponsored prizes.

Apply online before 11 May 2016. Registration fees are ₩ 30,000 for the Full and Half Marathons, and ₩20,000 for the 10 km Running and Walking Courses.

Participants will receive souvenirs including commemorative T-shirts and finisher medals.
