The Batik Sarong Charity Fun Run is an event organized by Yayasan CNI, which will be held on 21 September 2014. All participants will don their sarongs creatively during the run, with the choice of bringing along their own sarongs or buying it at the event venue.

Participants who fail to don their sarongs during the run will be disqualified for various contests. Registration fee for the run is RM$20 per person, for both the 3km or 5km categories. Every registered participant will be entitled to get a T-shirt, a polybag of seedlings, and a goodie bag. Participants under 12 years old get to run for free!

Plant a Tree, Plant a Hope!

The Wisma CNI in Glenmarie, Shah Alam will be the venue for the said event. CNI are the main organisers, with Oren Sport Group as the main sponsor, Sepang Goldcoast Malaysia and Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) as co-organisers, while 1Voluntourism and NBQS are associate partners to support the success of this charity run.

President of Yayasan CNI, Datin Angeline Koh said that as the Earth’s citizen, it is part of our responsibility to save the environment as global warming issues from every corner of the world is crying out for earth conservation.

“We believe that our obligations as Malaysians are not just localised, but to all mankind the world over, as well as all living beings in this blue planet. By planting a tree, it can help to suppress global warming effect and improve the quality of the environment. 1 tree will absorb approximately 1 ton of carbon dioxide during the course of its life cycle. Start from now, live responsibly and in accord with Mother Nature, we can make a difference!”

The mission to create awareness towards nature and the environment is being fully endorsed by 3 ministries – the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Malaysia, and the Ministry of Multimedia and Communication, together with Tourism Selangor.
