Welcome to our 4th Mantra Summits Challenge. This 4th edition bringing a few new kinds of stuff to you: the one hundred kilometre category. It is not exactly 100K but instead, we make it 116K. We call it Mantra Summits Challenge One One Six or simply say it: MSC one.one.six. This one.one.six adding up the existing 15, 35, 55 and 75K category exist previously

All category will circulate around Arjuno-Welirang. The well-known complex of the mountain with its beautiful view but yet very challenging elevation profile to reach both peaks of Welirang and Arjuno.

Mount Arjuno (sometimes spelt Mount Arjuna) is an inactive volcano in East Java, Indonesia with altitude 3,339 m above sea level. Mount Arjuno is located on the border of Batu, Malang and Pasuruan and is under Raden Soerjo Forest Park authority. Mount Arjuno is the third highest mountain in East Java after Mount Semeru and Mount Raung and is the fourth highest on the island of Java.

Arjuno is adjacent to Welirang, Kembar I, and Kembar II. The peak of Mount Arjuno is located on one ridge that is the same as the peak of Welirang mountain, so this complex is often referred to as Arjuno-Welirang. The Arjuno-Welirang complex itself is on two older volcanoes, Ringgit in the east and Linking in the south. Fumaroles with sulfur reserves are found in a number of locations in these mountains, such as on the summit of Mount Welirang, the peak of Kembar II, and on a number of hiking trails.

There will be a strong Sulphur gas at the peak of Welirang. You need to be cautious when reaching this area.

Normally this mountain is reached from three climbing points, Lawang, Tretes and Batu. In the MSC one.one.six categories you will climb up Welirang from Kaliandra resort then united with Tretes climbing point. Then going down to Cangar-Batu, climb up back again towards Arjuno peak and going downhill via Lali Jiwo forest-Budug Asus towards UB forest. You literally exploring Arjuno-Welirang from all climbing points! What an incredible experience.

The magnificent view you will experience along the way the route you run.

In this edition, the category 35, 55, 75 and 116K will earn UTMB point. To those planning to compete in Mont Blanc, this race is for you!

Furthermore, the 116K and 75K will be an Indonesia Super Trail of Asia Trail Master. This means there will be 50 points additional any of you finishing both races.

As in previous year, this race is managed and organized by Malang Trail Runners, a local trail running community from Malang but with global vision and mindset. As we are runner and ultrarunner ourselves, we think we understand what kind of experience expected from this ultra trail race.

Feel the warmth. Feel the friendship. Feel the hospitality of a typical ultra trail runners.

Come to Malang and join us in MSC one.one.six.

Let’s make a friendship.
