The 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship held on 12 May 2019 at Da Nang, Vietnam, witnessed 2189 athletes representing 60 states, countries, territories, and regions. Registered athletes range in age from 18 – 74 years old.

Reigning IRONMAN World Champion, Patrick Lange (DEU), earned top spot among the highly competitive men’s field, claiming the title of 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 Asia-Pacific Champion, Vietnam with a record-breaking time of 3:49:08. Great Britain’s Holly Lawrence delivered a masterclass, pacing the world-class field from start to end, with a superb finish time of 4:04:40.

Tim Van Berkel (AUS) finished a close second place for the men’s with a time of 3:50:56, and Timothy Reed (AUS) rounded out the podium in third place with a finish time of 3:52:13. On the women’s side, Sarah Crowley (AUS) finished second with a time of 4:08:54 and Radka Kahlefeldt (CZE) finished third with a time of 4:11:03.

  3. Timothy REED (AUS) – Swim: 22:48, Bike: 2:04:49, Run:1:21:20, Total: 3:52:13
  4. Mike PHILIPSL (NZL) – Swim: 22:40, Bike: 2:07:20, Run:1:19:53, Total: 3:53:12
  5. Craig ALEXANDER (AUS) – Swim: 22:41, Bike: 2:07:23, Run:1:21:07, Total: 3:54:20

  1. Holly LAWRENCE (GBR) – Swim: 23:13, Bike: 2:12:29, Run:1:25:21, Total: 4:04:40
  2. Sarah CROWLEY (AUS) – Swim: 24:43, Bike: 2:17:14, Run:1:23:18, Total: 4:08:54
  3. Radka KAHLEFELDT (CZE) – Swim: 24:45, Bike: 2:17:18, Run:1:25:38, Total: 4:11:03
  4. AMELIA WATKINSON (NZL) – Swim: 24:47, Bike: 2:17:14, Run:1:27:34, Total: 4:13:00
  5. GRACE THEK (AUS) – Swim: 25:43, Bike: 2:27:54, Run:1:35:43, Total: 4:33:22

The highlight of the 2019 IRONMAN Asia circuit, TECHCOMBANK IRONMAN 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship, Vietnam, led athletes along a fast and scenic course that began with a 1.9KM ocean swim in front of the beautiful Hyatt Regency Da Nang Resort & Spa. The athletes then enjoyed a scenic two-loop 90KM bike ride on smooth, well-paved roads that run along Da Nang’s pristine coastline and landmarks. The final 21M out-and-back flat run course ended on the picturesque beach at Hyatt Regency Da Nang Resort & Spa.

Offering a total professional prize purse of USD$75,000, the race also awarded a total of 50 age-group qualifying slots for the 2019 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, which will be held in Nice, France.

On Sunday, 11 May 2019, IRONMAN also announced the new location of the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship. The Jewel of Kedah, Langkawi, will play host to the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship and welcome athletes from all over the region and world.
