ASICS is bringing back its iconic GEL-KINSEI OG nearly after a decade. GEL-KINSEI OG known as the early millennial runner that gives high mileage with superior comfort. Renowned as a high mileage running shoe that gives comfort, the bold style of the GEL-KINSEI™ OG was released in its iconic original colourway in late August, with further upcoming new reiterations.
The designer of the GEL-KINSEI shoe, Hisanori Fujita, was heavily inspired by the Samurai and their equipment. From their armour, which protects the body while still allowing freedom of movement, to their katana, which influenced the shape of the heel on the GEL-KINSEI™ shoe, the shoe’s design sticks true to its Japanese heritage while still keeping an audacious silhouette.
With its aggressive techno-modernist early-millennium styling, combined with the groundbreaking technology that made it such a pioneer in the first place, the 2019 GEL-KINSEI™ OG shoe brings back everything we loved about the OG this summer.
The magic of the GEL-KINSEI™ OG is, however, found in its heel. Three large sections of GEL™ technology in the rearfoot bonded to the shoe, cushions the foot at impact and adapts to the runner’s gait cycle to give improved stability – two roles that is a mark of truly exceptional engineering. The heel is held snugly in a plastic cradle, giving the shoe a good transition from foot impact to toe-off, and making it a true performance running shoe.
Price and Availability
The 2019 GEL-KINSEI™ OG is available on 14 September 2019 onwards. It comes in two colourway with the price of S$269, WHITE/BLACK (Men’s) and WHITE/WHITE (Women’s).
