In partnership with the TCS Sydney Marathon, presented by ASICS.
The Sydney Marathon 2027 ballot is free to apply and a random draw. Five minutes this weekend, and you’re in it.
The ballot for the 2027 TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS closes on Monday 19 October at 7am Singapore time (10am in Sydney). Sydney moves to daylight saving in October, so the ballot closes before most of us have finished breakfast on Monday. For runners in Singapore and Malaysia, Sunday 18 October is effectively the last day.
If you’ve been meaning to apply, here’s everything you need to do it in one sitting.
Why there’s no need to rush, only to apply
The Sydney ballot is a random draw, not first come, first served. Every application submitted before the close has the same chance, whether it went in on opening morning or this Sunday night. The only entry that can’t be drawn is the one that never gets submitted.
It’s also free to apply. International entry is AUD 330 (domestic AUD 280). It’s charged to your card only if you’re selected, when results go out by email on Tuesday 3 November.
Your five-minute checklist
- Passport details. Enter your name and details exactly as they appear on your passport.
- An email you check daily. Results and confirmations go there, so double-check the spelling. Whitelist the organiser’s address so the 3 November email doesn’t land in spam.
- A card valid through at least November 2026. If you’re drawn, the entry fee is charged automatically.
- Your estimated finish time. The course closes after 7 hours.
- The official entry page. Apply only through the official Race Roster ballot page, linked below.
Duo teams and non-elite racing wheelchair athletes apply through a separate process, not the public ballot.

Still on the fence?

Sydney is the only Abbott World Marathon Major in the Southern Hemisphere, and one of only two in our part of the world, alongside Tokyo. The course starts on Miller Street in North Sydney, crosses the Harbour Bridge, loops through Centennial Park and finishes at the Sydney Opera House.
It’s also one of the easiest Majors to get to from here. The flight is roughly eight hours, Sydney is only two hours ahead in August, and late-winter mornings there are cool and dry. More than 6,000 Six Star Finishers have already run Sydney and earned their seventh star. Every finisher also receives a medal and finisher T-shirt, plus 12 months of ASICS Runkeeper Go, the personalised training platform powered by ASICS.
For the full picture, including the course profile, what comes with your entry and how to plan the trip, read our Sydney Marathon 2027 ballot guide.
If you’re not drawn
Results land on 3 November. If you miss out, the official Travel Partner Program offers packages with guaranteed entry, and the Charity Program runs through partner charities. We’ll cover both after results day.
Don’t leave it to Monday morning
The ballot closes at 7am SGT on Monday 19 October. It takes five minutes, and you only pay if you’re drawn. Set a reminder now so the deadline doesn’t slip past you this weekend.
