Trace 3,000 years of history in the fascinating city of Jerusalem, holy to the world’s three monotheistic religions. Held in Israel’s capital on Friday, 18 March 2016, the Jerusalem Winner Marathon combines history with a challenging race experience.

All runs will kick off at Rupin Road, at the junction between the Israel Knesset building and the Israel Museum. The first to start will be the half marathoners at 6:45 a.m. followed by the full marathoners at 7:00 a.m.

From here, tens of thousands of runners, representing different religions and countries from across the globe, will explore the city’s unique routes and landscapes. Taking in the various cultural and historical landmarks of Jerusalem along the various tracks, each runner will bring home an inspiring and unforgettable athletic experience.

The marathon course, approved by the Association of International Marathons (AIMS), will finish at the southern end of Sacher Park, the largest public park in the heart of Jerusalem. The other runs will also finish at various points around this park.

Join the Community Run, Free of Charge

With 5,000 runners expected to take part in the Community Race, it’s no wonder the Jerusalem Winner Marathon earned the title of Israel’s largest social race. The sports event aims to increase social awareness by bringing together families, children and members of various social organisations.

The Community Race is free to join and open to anyone who wants to show their support and solidarity with participants from affiliated charitable organisations. Be inspired by the courage and motivation of the beneficiaries, some of whom have disabilities, to join the race. Public figures, famous actors, entertainers and musicians, and Knesset members will also join the event.

Flagging off at 8:45 a.m., the 800-metre race will start at the junction between the Knesset and the Israel Museum on Rupin Road. The course will make a U-turn back to the start at the halfway point.

Upon registration, all race participants in all categories are also encouraged to make a donation to any of the 23 affiliated organisations which reach various needy groups within the community.
