Officially registered on November 2008 as an NGO and obtaining its tax exempted status in the subsequent year, EMPOWERED is a non-profit organization committed to saving lives, preventing cancer and serving the poor in Malaysia who are afflicted with cancer. A decade is a long time and going through thin and thick throughout the years, EMPOWERED has come so far to celebrate our 10th year anniversary in 2018 and we are extremely thankful to all of our supporters, partners, collaborators, donors and sponsors for their unconditional support. Started with a small workforce who believes in big achievements, EMPOWERED’s unwavering efforts to save lives through early cancer detection has penetrated 12 densely populated communities in the Klang Valley, reaching approximately 100,000 people since our establishment.
In conjunction with the World Lung Cancer Month on November and in commemoration of our anniversary, we will be organizing Lung Cancer Awareness Charity Run with the theme of “Love Lung, Love Life” to celebrate this important milestones with the public. Besides the celebration and raising awareness, the main objective of this special event is to raise funds for EMPOWERED and the entire funds raised will be channeled back to the organization in implementing our yearly campaign and activities, helping more under-privileged community to have their basic right to fight against cancer and not to allow circumstances to determine their fate.
It is targeted to have at least 1,000 people to join us for this big celebration. Besides being just an ordinary charity run, we plan to involve food trucks, lucky draw, various performances and exhibition booths displaying stories from our past beneficiaries and lung cancer facts.
