Global Running Day started in 2009 by leading running organisations and races throughout the nation. It was a day to celebrate the sport of running which began in the United States and was formerly known as National Running Day. The inaugural Global Running Day happened on 1st of June 2016 and more than 2.5 million people from 177 countries have pledged to run more than 9.2 million miles – that’s like running from the Earth to the moon and back 19 times.

Global Running Day is a worldwide celebration of the sport and it was a way for the runners of all ages and abilities to share their passion for running and also inspire others to get moving. Bill de Blasio, New York City Mayor, has declared that on June 1, 2016, it will be a Global Running Day in the City of New York.

With all of that being said, we would like you to be a part of this Global Running Day Challenge and celebrate the joy of running with everyone.

What is Global Running Day Challenge?

Global Running Day Challenge is a 5-day event and it is an event to get everyone moving, to have fun being active and also inspire others by joining in this challenge. It is not about how fast you run or how far you go but what’s important is for you to take part in Global Running Day Challenge and how you do it will be your choice.

You can run around your block, take your dog for a long walk, or call your friends for a pick-up game in the park as long as you keep moving and have fun being active, allowing the others to feel inspired.
