Does the world need zoos? If you believe Dr. Dave Hone, writing for “The Guardian,” reasons for zoos to exist grow more important every day. Zoos provide homes for species that are reaching extinction stages, often due to man’s shoddy treatment of the environment.

In Singapore, the national zoo is a destination that delights adults and children alike, keeping species safe from joining the ranks of the endangered. Designated the world’s best rainforest zoo, Singapore Zoo’s physical design is called “open concept” because not all of the 2,400 residents are confined to cages.

Breeding programs are wildly successful and thanks to the facility’s Wildlife Healthcare and Research Centre, the Singapore Zoo has become a beacon of hope for conservationists and a reason you should help protect this treasure by showing off your running chops at the 24 February 2019 Safari Zoo Run.

Channel Your Inner Animal

You don’t have to exhibit the speed of a cheetah to perform admirably at the 2019 Safari Zoo Run because distances are manageable, even if you’re a kid. Register for the 2km, 4km or 12km and mark your calendar accordingly.

By signing up, you carry on a beloved tradition and celebrate the life of the Zoo’s beloved animal personality, Ah Meng, the Sumatran orangutan who may be gone but never forgotten since she symbolized all that is inspiring about protecting and honouring all creatures.

Participate and you’ll see parts of the park with which you may be unfamiliar, since your run takes you through the Zoo, River Safari and Night Safari. Look forward to being in the best of company. Running beside you may be one of the Zoo’s residents in addition to the pals you talk into joining you at this event.

Details, Please

If the giraffe residing at the Singapore Zoo conversed in a language other than giraffe, they would advise you to sign up quickly so you can take advantage of either early bird or promotional discounts that leave more money in your wallet to spend at the event.

On the big day, you’ll arise with the birds and show up at 7:00 a.m. at 80 Mandai Lake Road. No peacocks need be consulted about proper dress. You can wear vintage Zoo Run t-shirts from your collection from past years or don a Safari Zoo Run 2019 singlet (for the Safari Zoo Challenge) or t-shirt.

Claim enough entitlements on either race pack collection day (16th or 17th February) to fill a kangaroo’s pouch: a carrier bag, reusable water bottle, timing chip for competitive runners and a race bib. Trophies, prizes and finisher medals? Even elephants want to win these!

Helping To Save Animals Is Just A Tip Of The Toucan’s Beak

If you’ve been to the Singapore Zoo, you know that there’s an admission fee to enter and a fee to go on the River Safari, but on 24th February, those entry fees disappear. Instead, you have free range of the park and to reward you further, the zoo’s animals have convinced organisers to give everyone discount vouchers for:

  • Night Safari and Jurong Bird Park adventures (valid until 31 Mar 2019)
  • Retail merchandise
  • Wildlife Tours that include Manatee Mania at River Safari, RepTopia at Singapore Zoo, Safari Adventure Tour at Night Safari and Bird’s Eye Tour at Jurong Bird Park

Want to find out more on what to expect from the Safari Zoo Run? Check out some of our race reviews from our runners:

Are you ready to become a friend of wildlife by being part of an event that shows your passion for animals? That early bird discount is tweeting pretty loudly, so listen up!
