Following the successful ASEAN Unity Run last year which attracted 10,000 participants from 20 countries, organiser AMAN Malaysia returns again with a revised running and cycling event – ASEAN Unity Run & Ride 2016 (AURR16). The inaugural event will take place on 6 November 2016 in the Federal Territory of Putrajaya.

Race Format

This year’s edition will feature one competitive category – 10km Run, and four non-competitive categories alongside.

The 5km Fun Run and Stroller Run, which have been known to be crowd-pleasing among young families, are brought back by popular demand from the previous year. In addition, a new cycling category – 35km Fun Ride, has been included to meet the rising interest from youths and young professionals.

A special category that furthers the Lend Your Body Campaign will feature volunteers and celebrities cycling along with underprivileged Orang Asli (indigenous peoples of Malaysia) to experience the thrill of cycling.

Malaysia, a Peace Loving Society

AURR16 aims to promote Malaysia as a peace loving society, and unite ASEAN nations together in view of recent attacks locally and internationally.

A token of appreciation from AMAN Malaysia to YB Khairy Jamaluddin, Minister of Youth and Sports accompanied by YB Dato Haji Ahmad Maslan, Deputy Minister of International Trade & Industry.

In addition, the event also advocates the importance of protecting babies and children from preventable diseases through vaccinations, with messages directed to parents. AMAN Malaysia has garnered support from return sponsor – UNICEF and the relevant ministries to organise a series of vaccinations campaigns and outreach talks in September and October.

Registration for the ASEAN Unity Run & Ride 2016 closes at 5.00pm on 6 October 2016 or upon reaching 10,000 participants.
