HOPE worldwide Malaysia announced its third Bolathon Event to be held on 1 June 2014 recently. Dubbed as the one-and-only ‘Charity Masquerade Walk’ in Malaysia, the fundraising event is organised once every 4 years to coincide with FIFA World Cup. Running on the success, the 2014 event will include an additional 10 km run and expects to draw more than 3,000 football aficionados and enthusiasts.

Family Friendly Football Themed Event Returns for the Third Time

Beaming with excitement in launching the event, Darick Wong, Country Director of HOPE worldwide Malaysia said,

“The proceeds of the Charity Masquerade Walk will be directed towards the implementation of Health, Nutrition and Education programs such as Free Health Clinics, Reading and Food distribution for underprivileged communities. We are immensely grateful to our sponsors like Adidas, Golden Screen Cinemas, Hyundai, Starbucks, Gatorade and others who have been instrumental in developing our capacity to facilitate programs for the benefit of underprivileged communities.”

Adidas also sponsored the Official FIFA World Cup 2014 match ball, Brazuca to be used for the friendly Futsal Matches following the Run. This year’s BOLATHON will also introduce a 10km category.

BOLATHON has had encouraging participation from Malaysians of all ages thanks to its football theme and family-friendly 3km walk. The previous Bolathon held in 2010 saw an array of colourful, creative and outrageous home-made costumes.

Registrations for the Bolathon 2014 will close on 19 May 2014. Participants are encouraged to come dressed up in their most creative costumes.
