Featuring more than 300 international competitors from mainly Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Singapore, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Slovakia and other countries from all around the world, the Challenge Race will see current triathlon champion – Dylan McNiece, as well as top triathletes – Braden Currie, Amelia Rose Watkinson, Radka Vodickova and Belinda Granger gracing the occasion as event ambassadors on 13 August 2016.

In addition, 750 runners will also be participating in the 5km Fun Run that will be happening with the Kids Run on 12 August 2016.

The Race Course

The Challenge Iskandar Puteri, proudly sponsored by title sponsor UEM Sunrise Berhad, brings participants and spectators alike to take in the scenic views around Puteria Harbour Marina, an international marina surrounded by hotels, dining and entertainment options.

The Challenge Race will be a half-distance race, starting with a 1.9km swim course followed by a 90km bike route and a 21km run course.

The 1.9km swim off will see competitors swim out along Puteri Harbour Marina, the southern part of the Straits of Malacca that forms the border between Malaysia and Singapore.

Back on land, competitors will embark on a 90km bike route which consists of a double loop that will bring competitors around the Medini area, showcasing its major attractions such as the newly built EduCity and the being constructed Johor’s sports hub. Riders will also pass children’s favourite themepark – Legoland Malaysia, along undulating roads with low rise and fall that will offer participants a more exciting ride.

Dismounting their bikes, competitors will then move on to the last segment of the race – the 21km double loop run route, running along tree-lined streets consisting of outstanding architecturally designed structures which are surrounded by natural green landscapes, before finishing off the race back at Puteri Harbour Marina promenade.

An All-Inclusive Event

The Challenge Race is the embodiment of family, where no one is to be left out. With segments such as the 5km Fun Run, as well as race categories for Juniors (ages 6 to 8), Intermediate (ages 9 to 12) and Seniors (ages 13 to 18), the Challenge Iskandar Puteri is not an exclusive event only for the emulous triathletes. It also caters for the non-competitive adults and the kids.

Through this event, UEM Sunrise Berhad hopes to introduce Iskandar Puteri’s attractiveness to the world and at the same time, inculcate sports and healthy lifestyle as part of the masterplan for Iskandar Puteri.
