AirAsia announced a 3 year sponsorship worth S$100,000 on 17 April with Singaporean national marathon runner, Dr Mok Ying Ren.

One Step Closer To 2016 Olympics

The sponsorship includes flights for all of Mok’s overseas training, marathons and races. The partnership is set to provide the necessary support and funding, as Mok embarks on his dream of representing Singapore at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, Brazil.

Helping Mok Represent Singapore

Mok himself is delighted with the new partnership,

“I am really thankful to AirAsia for their support and their faith in me. Representing Singapore at the Olympics, competing alongside the world’s best, is something all athletes dream of. I am no exception. This partnership with AirAsia will definitely provide me with the right platform to work towards that dream and I will do my best to make Singapore proud and keep our flag flying high.”

Providing A Platform To Excel Globally

At a young age of 26, Mok is already widely recognized as Singapore’s premier long distance runner. In the recent 2013 SEA Games at Myanmar, Mok became the first Singaporean to win the gold medal in the Marathon event, doing the nation proud. He also topped last year’s annual Standard Chartered Marathon by clinching the first position under the Singaporeans category just 3 weeks prior to his achievement at the SEA Games.

Helping Mok Represent Singapore

AirAsia Singapore CEO Logan Velaitham said,

“As a company who believes in ‘Dreaming The Impossible’, we are extremely privileged and proud to support Mok and his big dream of representing Singapore at the 2016 Olympics. This sponsorship is testament to AirAsia’s on-going efforts to nurture young talents and we are glad to provide Mok with a platform to excel globally.”

RunSociety wishes Mok all the best in his upcoming races!
