Following sister races in Hong Kong and Taiwan, the MSIG Singapore Action Asia 50 ultra marathon trail race kick off in the Garden City for the first time. Covering some of Singapore’s most beautiful nature trails, organisers are taking a proactive approach to preserving the environment with a strict No Cup policy.

Starting and ending near Queen’s Crescent, the ultra run will be held on Saturday, 25 July 2015. Both the 10 km and the 21 km courses will follow the historical Green Corridor trail, while the 50 km continues through the pristine MacRitchie Reservoir Park.

Who’s There?

Member of Parliament for Tampines GRC, Mr Baey Yam Keng, will be flagging off the 10 km race. The fitness enthusiast himself will also be participating in this leg of the trail run event.

Seasoned ultra marathon runner, Lexxus Tan, will be competing alongside more than 1,000 race participants and other veteran runners including Deng Weifu (Taiwan), Mohd Puzi Dolah (Malaysia), Olya Korzh (Russia) and Vanja Cnops (Belgium). A well-known runner and trainer, Lexus is respected for flying the Singapore flag at a number of high profile international races. His sage advice for participating runners?

Lead by example and let your legs do all the talking!

What’s Happening?

To minimise environmental damage to the historical Green Corridor route, the MSIG Singapore Action Asia 50 is operating a strict No Cup policy. Bring your own water bottles or hydration packs and refill them at the following water check points throughout the course, as cups will not be provided.

It is a challenging route so we advise that all participants ensure they have done the necessary training, especially if this is your first trail run or first 50 km. Get outside and get some practice runs in!
—Michael Maddess, Director of Action Asia Events
