Each year, the Condura Skyway Marathon runs for a different cause. Since its launch in 2008, funds have been raised for conserving the Tubbataha Reefs, whale sharks in Donsol, protecting dolphins in Baclayon, planting mangrove seeds in Zamboanga Sibugay, and other eco-conservation efforts.

Following 2015’s edition, this year’s fundraising efforts will go towards another noble cause: the HERO Foundation. To honour fallen soldiers from the Armed Forces of The Philippines (AFP), the organisation provides educational assistance to the heroes’ children and dependent siblings.

Be A Hero To Children

Families with fallen soldiers not only lose a loved one, but their family breadwinner as well. Hence, most children in affected families have to drop out of school to help support the family or because they simply cannot afford it anymore.

You can help send children to school by running in the Condura Skyway Marathon. The premier running event will be held on Sunday, 7 February 2016.

Gun time for the 42 km race will be at the stroke of midnight. The 21 km, 10 km and 6 km runs will also start before sunrise at 3:30 a.m., 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. respectively.

Hydration stations and portalets will be spread out along the race course in intervals of 2.5 km or shorter. There will also be medics on bicycles and ambulances on standby to ensure runners’ safety.

Pre-Paid Card Registration Still Open

Credit card registration online has closed but if you have friends or family in the Philippines, you’re in luck. Ask them to help you pick up a CSM2016 Prepaid Card at selected Asics stores. With the code on the pre-paid card, register online by 17 January 2016.

Entry fees are as follows: PHP 2,000 for the 42 km, PHP 1,700 for the 21 km, PHP 1,000 for the 10 km, and PHP 900 for the 6 km category. All participants will receive a technical race shirt, D-tag timing chip, a finisher’s medal, and a portion of their fees will be used to donate to the HERO foundation. Full and half marathoners will also receive a finishers’ shirt, upon completing their respective races.

There are special accommodation rates at the race’s official hotel partners, so keep that in mind when you’re planning to head there for the race.

Find out more about the Condura Skyway Marathon on their official website.

We’re sure many of you run for a cause. Who are you a hero to? We’d love to hear your story!
