Whoever said running is just running, whoever said running is boring; these people probably have never experienced trail running.

The 5th Annual Salomon X-Trail Run will take place at Tampines Mountain Bike Park & Trail on 25 November 2012.

There is something very liberating about trail running. Just ask any of the 2459 runners who took part in last year’s fixture.

Simply being surrounded by the lush greenery relieves the stress that comes with the city life. Furthermore, when faced with the challenging terrain, you really must stay focused on every stride.

This year, the organisers are expecting at least 2,500 runners to take up this challenge.

The Salomon X-Trail Run consists of four categories – Men’s and Women’s Open and Men’s and Women’s Veteran. Clearly, age is just a number and is not going to stop the brave runners. The race would flag off at 7.30am, giving it a nice touch of sunrise warmth.

Registration opened on 7 September and you can do so at http://salomonx-trailrun.com. Otherwise, visit the Salomon store at Velocity @ Novena Square and check out some running apparels too. The registration fee is $45 while World of Sports members get a special rate of $42. Registration closes on 7 November 2012, 11.59pm.

Race pack collection will be from 10 – 11 November 2012, 12 – 8pm. Runners will receive a Salomon singlet and exclusive cap.

The 10km route will leave you covered in sand, grass, mud, and sweat. The finisher medal is just added proof that you completed the challenge.

Being clean is never an option.

I am a writer by day, an athlete by night. I love running at night because the streets just become so quiet and peaceful. My active lifestyle includes running, swimming and a passion for soccer. I have completed a few marathons and I enjoy other races like biathlons and urbanthlons. The only reason why I don't do triathlons is bikes are too expensive!
