On 6 January, the first Sunday of 2019, adidas Runners Singapore wasted no time in putting its running calendar into action. A select group of creators – adidas speak for influencers – as well as the member of the media gathered at adidas Vivocity outlet to embark on the first community run for the year.

With the intent of setting an example to inspire others to lead an active lifestyle and foster a strong spirit of camaraderie, the group’s captains Sofie Chandra and Eugene Lim chose a scenic route that took us up to Mount Faber, through Telok Blangah Hills and ended at Henderson Wave. The captains and creators including radio DJ Joakim Gomez, actor and host Danial Ashriq – among others – reflected on their 2018 fitness journey and shared their resolutions for this year.

My resolution for this year is to push the impossible, to get stronger and strive towards achieving a personal best time of less than 2 hours and 40 mins for the marathon distance.

New Marine and Ash Grey Colourways for SolarBoost

When the SolarBoost was first launched in May last year, it was the first adidas model to utilise the cutting-edge Tailored Fibre Placement technology, a data-driven manufacturing process that lays down fibres which feature Parley material content in the midfoot to precisely support the runner.

What this technology does is that it provides lightweight support and superior cushioning for days when you need to do your long runs. The tech fit moulds to the foot, thus relieving any unnecessary pressure points.

The latest update to the collection includes new Marine and Ash Grey colourways. Both features pop of Hi-Res yellow, reflecting how injections of bright colour bring life and energy in unexpected places.

You may find impressions of the SolarBoost here.

As a leading sports brand, continuously engaging the community is key. To that end, adidas Runners Singapore was set up. It currently has more than 3,100 members on its Facebook group, and anyone can join this group for free.

In 2018, this group clocked 22 runs and covered 160km of running for 2,000 members. Last weekend, it launched its first 2019 tribe run at the Sports Hub for about 120 members. More runs are in the pipeline, so do check their Facebook group page for the latest news.

Expect More New Models Soon

With SolarBoost launched early in the year, we can expect more running models to be out soon. Next up would be a revamped UltraBoost, a personal favourite of mine for long distance running.

Read more on current UltraBoost here.

We’re midway through January already. It’s time to put your 2019 fitness resolution into action, and join adidas Runners Singapore community to learn new techniques, make new friends, and have fun!

Iskandar has a soft spot to run overseas and in ultra distance events. He is currently smitten by the trail running bug and foresees multi stage racing to be his next poison. If he’s not competing on foot, you’ll likely to bump into him racing on four wheels.
