The annual Run For Light running event is in its 5th edition on 22 February 2020, Saturday at Punggol Waterway Park.

Since its inception, Run For Light has been supporting Guide Dogs Singapore Ltd (GDS) each year where partial proceeds are pledged.

Run For Light 2020 is jointly organised by Ideas Room Consulting Pte Ltd and Punggol North Community Sports Club.

About Run For Light 2020

In sync with GDS’ vision to create an inclusive society where every blind and visually-impaired persons are empowered for independent living, Run For Light was conceptualised with an aim to drive home the message of the many challenges such individuals face.

The collaboration with GDS over the years has proven to be beneficial for all especially to the visually challenged ones.

“Our work is never done with just an annual run event. It is an ongoing campaign through other events partnering GDS and in the long run, we hope to inculcate into every member of the public to display a great empathy to the visually challenged people. Only then, we can be called an inclusive society”

Run For Light 2020 Is Back In Singapore

Year 2020 being the event’s 5th edition is special where participants will get two uniquely designed tees, the neon yellow event run tee and the special black 5th edition tee.

Printed by the event’s official apparel, Compressport, the run tee is made of microfiber material which is ultra-soft and breathable to provide ease of running and the 5th Edition tee is made of ultra-smooth interlock material which is meant for comfort wear on all occasions.

Run For Light 2020 Is Back In Singapore

The event will comprise of the symbolic 1KM blindfold walk where two persons will get to partner up, 5KM fun run and 10KM individual run.

The new category added in the 2020 edition is the 5KM Ekiden Team Challenge where 5 persons will form a team with each running 5KM to complete a total 25KM distance.

Podium prizes are awarded to the top 5 finishers in the 10KM men’s and women’s categories and the fastest team in the 5KM Ekiden Team Challenge.

Run For Light 2020 Race Categories Rate

The race category for the price is S$45 for 10km Individual Open, S$ for 3-To-Go Promo (10km only), S$38 for 5km Fun Run, S$108 for 3-to-go (5km only), S$68 for 1km Blindfold Walk (Limit to 100 pairs only), and S$198 for 5km Ekiden Team of 5 Challenge (Limit to 20 Teams only).

Previous Editions of Run For Light

Run For Light has been featured in the iconic Punggol Waterway Park, in the previous two editions, Run For Light 2019 and Run For Light 2018 and come 2020, it will be the hosting ground again.

The event has attracted some 3,000 participants this year and the target for 2020 is 5,000.

For the second consecutive year, Majestic Fast Ferry is the official ferry operator and will be extending complimentary return ferry passage from Singapore to Batam to all participants excluding surcharges and port taxes.

What’s new in Run For Light 2020?

Run For Light turns 5 in 2020! The 2020 edition will see a new category introduced, the “Ekiden 5KM Challenge”. Other categories are the symbolic 1KM blindfold walk, 5KM fun run and 10KM individual run. The “Ekiden 5KM Challenge” and 10KM run are timed categories and podium winners will win cash and trophies.

Where and when will Run For Light Singapore 2020 be held?

The Run For Light Singapore 2020 will be held at Punggol Waterway Park. on 22 February 2020 (Saturday).

Is there a cutoff time for the Run For Light 2020?

Yes, the cut off time at the Start Point will be 20 minutes after the category GUN time.

What is the minimum age to participate in the Run For Light Singapore 2020?

You have to be 13 years and above as of the event day to participate in the 10km Individual OPEN and the Ekiden 5km Challenge. The minimum age for the fun run is 4 and above.
