Goodbye, 2018! Hello, 2019!

Fortunately, running events is (running) nowhere. It’s about time to start planning for your new year’s running calendar as 2019 offers you bigger and better running events for both freshmen and veteran runners. But be careful, choose your races carefully from simple fun runs to full marathons according to your physical limits. Without further ado, tie those shoelaces and buckle up for these upcoming running events in Singapore 2019 that you should not miss.

1. Run For Light 2019

Run For Light 2019 is back with its 4th edition in support of Guide Dogs Singapore Limited (GDS). In the darkness, light provides the luminous vision for mankind. The main aim of it is to create awareness for the blind and guide dogs that help them. Run For Light 2019 features their 1km symbolic blindfold walk, 5km fun run and 10km competitive run.

Date: 26th January 2019 (Saturday)
Time: 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Venue: Punggol Waterway (Punggol Town Square)

2. Run For Hope 2019

Run For Hope 2019 returns with its 26th edition of running for cancer awareness and research. This year, a brand new Zumba class is available for participants to sign up. On top of that, the organisers are generous enough to donate $5 for every registration fee to the NCC Research Fund’s cancer research programme. Over years, the survival rates for cancer patients in Singapore have rapidly increased thanks to both generous donations and great progress cancer research has made. Join the team to help make more survivors and Run for Hope.

Date: 17th February 2019 (Sunday)
Time: 6 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Venue: OCBC Square (Singapore Sports Hub)

3. Herbalife Marina Run 2019

Kick start the new year with The Herbalife Marina Run 2019 as you run through the beauty and the grandeur Marina Bay has to offer. Run past iconic landmarks through the beautiful waterfront communities over the Marina Barrage and take in this unforgettable journey you will embark on. The Herbalife Marina Run 2019 promises a great time for participants from all walks of life.

Date: 23rd February 2019 (Saturday)
Time: 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Venue: Gardens by the Bay East (Next to Passion Wave @ Marina)

4. Safari Zoo Run 2019

Initially, Safari Zoo Run was organised to commemorate the passing of Singapore’s most loved animals – Ah Meng, the Sumatran orangutan. As the events developed over the years, it not only continues to inspire and deepen appreciation for wildlife, but also encourages family bonding while running through Singapore Zoo, River Safari and Night Safari respectively. In this year’s 11th edition, the theme for the run is Run for Wildlife with four distinct park icons.

Date: 24th February 2019 (Sunday)
Time: 7 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Venue: Singapore Zoo, River Safari, Night Safari

5. Mizuno Women’s Run 2019

Returning for its 2nd edition, Mizuno Women’s Run 2019 is back to encourage women of all ages to get active through running. This year’s theme, “Reach Beyond”, expresses Mizuno’s desire to support anyone who wants to not only achieve their goals, but also surpass them despite being a regular running individual or even a serious athlete.

Date: 7th April 2019 (Sunday)
Time: 7:30 a.m.- 10 a.m.
Venue: Clarke Quay Central

6. 2XU Compression Run Singapore 2019

The annual 2XU Compression Run Singapore returns in 2019 with new 2XU event apparels with POLYGIENE odour technology. Polygiene odour technology ensures you stay fresh and odour free. Wear more, wash less and reduce your environmental footprint. Aim to achieve beyond expectations and see how far you can push your limits!

Date: 7th April 2019 (Sunday)
Time: 4:30 a.m. – 10 a.m.

7. 50Hrs Non-Stop Run 2019

The 50Hrs Non-Stop Run 2019 is a non-competitive run where runners have a total of 50 hours to complete a certain distance they have selected when registering. Runners are able to run at any time within the 50 hours to complete their selected distance, therefore there will be runners running at any time of the day including the night.

Date: 19th – 21st April 2019 (Friday- Sunday)
Time: 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Venue: Bedok Reservoir

8. Income Eco Run 2019

Southeast Asia biggest eco-run, which aims to encourage everyone to play their part in supporting the cause of zero waste. Back with its “Zero Waste Runner” category, Income Eco Run 2019 would like you to pledge to be eco-friendly, in which there will be no finisher tees or medals awarded after the race.

Date: 28th April 2019 (Sunday)
Time: 5 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Venue: F1 Pit Building

9. Urban Aquathlon 2019

Urban Aquathon is a 2-stage sprint race comprising of swim followed by a run. The swim leg will commence in the Olympic-size swimming pool which is relatively safe for all. Given its urbanised set up, the event is ideal for all levels of participants from high-octane athletes aiming for podiums or PBs; aspiring athletes transiting to triathlon; newbies and kids.

In 2019, the Urban Aquathlon will see two races. The first race will take place at the state-of-the-art ‘Our Tampines Hub’ (OTH) on 6 April, Saturday and the second or last race at Singapore’s premier golf course, ‘Orchid Country Club’ (OCC) on 3 August, Saturday. The run at OTH will take place indoors on level 5 and the swim is on level 6 within the building compound.

Participants who sign up for the two races will earn the uniquely designed medal, which comes in two parts. In addition, a limited edition finisher tee will be presented to those who have competed in the two races.

Date: 6th April 2019 and 3 August 2019 1st June 2019 (Saturdays)
Time: 12:00 p.m. – 4 p.m., 8 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Venue: Our Tampines Hub, Orchid Country Club

10. Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2019 (SCSM 2019)

The marquee running event on Singapore’s sporting calendar, the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) is a running event that suitable for runners of all levels. The SCSM has one of the most race categories ranging from Kids Dash, Ekiden, 5km, 10km, half marathon to a full marathon. Every year, more than 40,000 runners joined in the annual race and it’s a strong testament that you should not miss this race either.

Date: 7th – 8th December 2019 (Saturday to Sunday)
Time: 4:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. (Subject to change)
Venue: F1 Pit Building (Subject to change)
