A half marathon, fun run and community lifestyle event all rolled into one? It’s all part of the one-of-a-kind ASEAN Unity Run 2015 launched during the ASEAN Day Celebrations on Sunday, 9 August. Held at Padang Merbok in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the inaugural run was organised with the aim of fostering ties and building community engagement while promoting a healthy lifestyle in the region.
Back in 1999, The first Townsville Running Festival had 26 finishers for the marathon, 58 finishers for the half marathon, and 31 finished the 10 Km. Over the years the festival has grown steadily both in event offering (there is now a 5km race) and attendance. 2015 attracted a record turnout of 3,264 participants, drawing runners from 17 countries including the UK, Germany, France, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and more.
Previously, we have shared 11 “haunted” places in Singapore that runners should be careful of during the hungry ghost festival. Now, just avoid these nine parks after dark and you’ll never have to give the topic a second thought.
Close your eyes and picture yourself running in the Singapore heat. You can strip down, but there are only so many layers you can shed before the fashion or real police question your modesty. Sure, guys have it easier, because a six-pack won’t ruffle feathers, but we women don’t have that luxury—and not all of us are comfortable displaying our assets in crop tops and halters.
After making a splash in Australia and China, ILLUMI RUN is bringing the party back to where it started—here in Singapore! Mark the date: Saturday, 28 November 2015. Once the sun goes down, the F1 Village will light up the night in a massive, riveting neon light installation, with partyers dancing and glowing through various ultraviolet music zonfs.
In case you grew up in a household where ghosts were discounted by your mum—yet you’ve got reservations—it’s impossible to ignore the fact that ghost stories and tales get major attention in Singapore, even among the most sceptical people. Things get particularly scary in August when the Hungry Ghost Festival takes place this year in Singapore from 14th August – 12th September, so give Singapore ghosts a wide berth if you run in these eleven neighbourhoods or risk other-worldly creatures following you!
