Top Singapore marathoner, Mok Ying Ren, has set a new national record in the half-marathon distance with a time of 1:07:53 at the Ageo City Half Marathon in Japan on Sunday morning. Mok, who will be representing the nation at the upcoming SEA Games in Myanmar next month, is in Japan for a month-long intensive training stint in an attempt to take his performance to the next level and based on his showing at the Ageo City Half Marathon, the move is proving to be a wise one.

As the countdown to the highly anticipated Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore (SCMS) 2013 race-day inches closer, organisers Spectrum Worldwide and the Singapore Sports Council, have unveiled a series of measures to deliver a convenient and flawless race for all. Keeping both the runners and members of the public in mind, there are concrete plans now in place for minimal disruptions to all on Sunday, December 1, 2013, when the athletes take their places at the three starting points.

Overcast skies did not stop 14,000 female runners from gathering at the Marina Bay Floating Platform with only one aim in mind – to Live Great. With 5km, 10km and 21km routes, there were categories that appealed to ladies from all age groups. The generous cut-off timings also helped to calm the nerves for first-time runners.
