Runners are willing to do almost anything to improve speed and increase endurance. They consume dietary supplements, pore laboriously over shoe recommendations, and seek out any potential advantage, no matter how small, to improve performance. Sleep, however, is a potential powder keg of improvement that seems to get little attention by many in the running community.

Millenia Walk was the start to a great city race! Four distances to conquer, 4500 waited eagerly at 7am on 3 March to start speeding down the roads of our sunny island. The North Face Singapore City Race is the amazing race minus the money, public transportation, TV cameras, one million dollars, but so fun! It’s free form dashing through our well connected city center and iconic landmarks.

Every year, I look forward to this race – Men’s Health Urbanathlon. Every year, it just gets better and tougher. With new obstacles, the introduction of female runners and improvements to the entire experience, this 14km race with 9 obstacles was truly a humbling and fun experience.

The 2XU Compression Run 2013 taking place 31 March 2013 will kick start the month-long Daffodil Days campaign by the Singapore Cancer Society. Held in April each year, Daffodil Days is a month-long campaign to raise cancer awareness in the community and also funds for those touched by cancer. The 2XU Compression Run raised S$20,000 for Daffodil Days in 2012, and Race Organiser Pink Apple aims to raise this amount together with the growth of the event.

On Sunday morning, more than 7,000 runners took to the roads at U Run 2013. Running through renowned Singapore landmarks like Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay and Waterfront Promenade, the race route culminated at the top of NTUC Centre for some 3,000 runners.
